Thumbs up Re: recommended shoes and flat pedal

I bought Adidas Kanadia trail shoes yesterday for use on my platform pedals.

I noticed that my average speed today increased from 17.5 kph to 18.5kph. The new shoes must have contributed to my increase in speed. Maybe before when I used to use my old Mizuno running shoes, I would lose a lot of energy and power on pedal bob. Now with my new trail shoes the grip is much better and I am able to get more power straight from my legs.

Trail shoes are highly recommended for platform pedals!

i'm all for tootega too. just waiting for more user feedback.
hindi ba madaling mapunit yung mesh? concerned lang ako sa pedaling.

mura lang to pero maganda ang design and materials. hindi mukang cheap.
pwede rin syang slippers kung fold/apakan mo lang yung likod.
perfect for rain and river crossing kasi mesh tsaka may drain sa soles.

i tried the sandugo rubber type outdoor shoes, sakto yung length pero kulang yung width sakin, nabalatan ang skin ng paa ko pag walang medyas.

i agree with r1Gel

if you want shoes that work well with platform pedals, get flat-soled and gum-soled shoes.

running/trail shoes will work. no doubt about that. but they won't work well. they will offer less grip and be too flexy to be efficient

My Sandugo Tootega is just two months old. And, I used it for biking only (twice or thrice weekly).

So far, okay naman sya. Buo pa rin.

Will just post here kung magkaroon sya ng sira o diperensya.

@recon, are we talking about tootega here? or yung storm?

the tootega is an adventure shoe, and bago na release yan sa market, it underwent testing. it happens i know guys from sandugo, bago pa na-release yan eh sila na ang gumagamit on climbs, bike rides and adventure races. the storm on the other hand eh tried and tested naman on Survivor. although malambot ang soles ng tootega, it's a good shoe for flat pedal users.

mga sir, how does tootega (or any brand of trekking shoes) compare to the bike specific shoes in terms of durability?

di ba madaling masira ung mga trekking shoes pag gagamitin for biking?

I'm thinking of getting a salomon/merrell this weekend..

@Polido: Sir, the Salomon that I once had did not last long. I trust Merrell instead. I have used it in mountain hiking even before I started mountain biking. I am still using it until now.

Ride safe...

for my platform pedals, i'm using my old oakley flak low shoes. very comfy and light. but very tough and durable.

but i think any hiking shoes will do just fine.

I'm currently using the Adidas Mali. They really keep your feet cool plus they dispel water immediately (thanks to the drainage sole system).
I would also reco trek w/ vibram soles. I slapped on my old pair of Columbia's one time & pedalling was a breeze. With the stiffness of the sole, it behaved like "cleats".
