Hey guys,
As some of you may want to go to this forum but cannot make it due to the weekday schedule, I'm setting up a short survey so that I can pass on to my wife any thoughts/feedback/ideas you might have. For the Bike Commuters 1.) On the average, how many kms do you ride to work? 2.) How long does it take? 3.) What's the main reason you got into bike commuting? 4.) What are some of the facilities at work that help you in your bike commute? 5.) What are some ideas you have to help you in your bike commute? if there's one thing you can implement in the short term, what would it be? For the I Want To Bike Commute But Choose Not To 1.) What's your main reason to want to bike commute? 2.) What's the biggest obstacle on doing bike to work? 3.) What would convince you to do bike commuting? Feel free to add other questions. Thanks guys

bike commuter ako for several years na.
1. my work is only 3.7 kilometers from where i live so i can reach the office without breaking sweat. that's why i carry my bike 5 floors, dun ako pinapawisan. 2. it takes me less than 20 minutes, 15 on a good day. 3. the preciseness of the commute is why i got into it. i can leave the house 9:10 am and be at the office 9:27-9:29am, whereas if i take the car - leaving at 9:05am doesn't guarantee that i reach the office at 9:29am, although i can make it 70% of the time. you can never tell how long it takes to get a cab and negotiating for fare disgusts me. on the way home naman, i just hate jeepneys that wait to be filled. i dislike tricycles too but need that combination for a faster way home. the need for a combi or multiple commute for a short trip is another reason. all the above and i haven't even touched on the benefits of weaving through traffic yet. oh yeah, feeling so alive at the office is another factor but i discovered this after i started bike commuting already. it's a thrill not obeying traffic rules too, another faster advantage over cars. as long as it is safe though. so far, i only follow the traffic light when i cross south superhighway. 4. the building and my office allows me to bring my bike in. well, i had to request the building admin for it. there's the shower too available from tuesday - friday but i don't take one anymore since i started again in 2008. my first time to bike commute was between 2003 to 2006. 5. a closet for my work clothes. i used to bring these by car mondays then bike commute the rest of the week as my boss allowed me to use the cabinet inside the vacant office room. with a different boss now using that room, i have to bring my civies daily, not my pressed uniforms, making me the regular office bad@ss for not wearing them.

1.) On the average, how many kms do you ride to work?
- Around 4kms one way. Bike to school for me, I'm still a college student in that university in Diliman that prides in honor and excellence. 2.) How long does it take? - More or less 20 minutes depending on the traffic. 3.) What's the main reason you got into bike commuting? - For the fun of it, it gives me freedom to go one place to another but the absence of safe bike parking somehow limits this freedom. On the serious side, to get some physical exercise. On the idealistic side, to help save the environment by not patronizing vehicles that emit pollutants. 4.) What are some of the facilities at work that help you in your bike commute? - Covered parking and security guards who also bike commute - once they get familiar with you they usually allow you to park your bike near their post or sometimes inside the building especially when there's only a few people around. 5.) What are some ideas you have to help you in your bike commute? if there's one thing you can implement in the short term, what would it be? - Safe parking space with bike racks and is well lit during the night.

I only bike commute from office to home 3 times a month at the most. It's about 30 kilometers in about 2 hours.
I do it on Wednesdays - my car's coding day Sometimes, I do bike commute to work the following day. I'd like to do bike commuting to work more often but there's no bathing facility at our office building.

What are some of the facilities at work that help you in your bike commute? shower room and safe parking space. I can even leave my bike without a chain 5.) What are some ideas you have to help you in your bike commute? if there's one thing you can implement in the short term, what would it be? For the Bike Commuters
1.) On the average, how many kms do you ride to work? - 6 -7 kms depending which route I take. 2.) How long does it take? - 18 - 25 mins 3.) What's the main reason you got into bike commuting? - the first time i did it was out of curiosity then i got the hang of it ayun hinahanap hanap na ng katawan ko and besides shorter travel time dahil iwas sa traffic. 4.) What are some of the facilities at work that help you in your bike commute? - masaya na ko dun sa pag allow nilang ipasok yung folding sa office, then naglagay na sila ng bike parking na malapit though hindi nga lang covered. 5.) What are some ideas you have to help you in your bike commute? if there's one thing you can implement in the short term, what would it be?
