Default back up tires for road use

Hi question lang I have a 2.1 tire + stock wheelset. I plan to buy a dedicated wheelset and another set of tires for road use yung tipong pang century rides and light trails.

1.5 size ba or 1.75 kunin ko? and ano ba medyo mura murang wheelset oks na sa akin yung mga stock wheelset sa mg built bike nakakatamad kasi mag tanggal ng tires.

hmm...magbubuo ka ng wheelset, i suggest sticking to the current config that you have. i mean same hubs, rims and nipples. unless malapad yung current rims mo and can't accomodate narrow tires.

nakagamit na ako ng 1.5, mabilis, he he he. check mo muna kung ano ang available sa area mo including tubes. note lang, the narrower the tire, the higher the PSI. so think about kapag naflat ka...ilang PSI yung kaya mong i-pump using your pump, assuming walang gas station (which only fills to something like 50 psi, when you might need 70 or so).

I agree kay sir anthrax, I will buy na lang siguro ng narrower tires, para kasing ganin din ang trabaho repalcing tires and the whole wheelset.

@poy, kahit magkaiba basta same speed. ang problem mo lang eh chain slack, pero kung long cage FD, wala namang masyadong issue.

i know some guys who maintain a spare rear wheelset dedicated for indoor trainers, para hindi maingay at mas matagal ang buhay ng tires.

I see..thanks for clarifying sir anthrax..naisip ko rin kasi gawin to dati nung ginagamit ko pa pang commute yung mtb ko kaso yun nga nag alangan ako sa cogs since mahirap narin maghanap ng 8 speed...

to TS

I have a spare wheelset for road riding (tagaytay and the likes). I have a budget duro sierra which i think is not a bad one, makapal so puncture resistant, decent grip (Never had any mishaps, just controlled fishtails i love doing during turns :D ), good rolling resistance and cheap..downside lang is it is quite heavy. 1.75 ang size nya so di masyado mukhang payatot and great thing is you do not need a separate spare tube for the wheelset as may mga tube that could accomodate 1.5/1.75 to 2.1/2.2 tire sizes (I have a 2.1 maxxis crossmark wheels for my trail escapades.

+1 sa Duro sir. I have one 1.5 naman, it's fast rolling. As for the weight issue naman, I guess okay lang kasi coming from a knobby 1.95 or 2.1 tires, magaan pa rin sya.

my take lang naman...

If you want Sir Marv, test mo muna yung tires ko before getting one. Lemme know lang

@kerhs, watch the 2 vids below. it's the same guy, he's a trials rider. as long as you know how to land properly, your wheels are fine. on the second vid, he's using a bike used in the TdF.

@Sanondail, while watching the TdF a few years back, may nakita akong nasa peloton na nag bunnyhop eh, kasi alanganin na yung position sa road kaya umakyat siya sa bangeta, tapos drop pabalik sa road. yes, the wheelset can handle it if you know how to land, he he. pansinin mo landing ni martyn, swabe, hindi "blagag" he he he. he's absorbing the impact with his body instead of letting the bike handle the shock.

wow dami na pala reply

hindi ko na consider yung cogs! haha

8 speed shimano mega range gamit ko

my pump can do 120psi using topeak pump.

I'm using alex rims td-24 disc and formula hubs for my wheelset. Current setup is 2.1 mezcal rear and 2.1 barro all mountain front.

How about I just change the rear tire to 1.75 oks ba cozmic lite na kenda ? then harap ko will still be 2.1 barro gusto ko gumaan padyak ko. dati kasi from 2.1 nag 2.0 hutchinson python ramdam ko masmabilis. so what more kung 1.75.

naiisip ko kung ganito setup for acceleration masramdam ko pero top speed ko siguro ganun parin. since 2.1 harap ?

@rastaman my knobs ba sa gilid yan or slick lang yung 1.5 ng duro? pwede siguro ma try sa dimalupig heheh

Nope Sir Marv - Slicks ito. Used it for the 700 race, fast rolling, minimal resistance, pero I haven't tried it on trails...

Offer still stands if you wanna try it just lemme know
