Default EDSA Cor. P. Tuazon Bike Accident..

Baka lalo ko pa mainjure ung biker if I move him..

Bike commuter din ako.. kaya I feel for the biker.. Wala din siya helmet unfortunately....

**Everyday I see 8 out 10 commuters na walang helmet or blinkers... This make me think of a charity program na if some of us can donnate old blinkers or old helments, then distribute it to lucky manong commuters na wala helmet or blinkers man lang..

What do you think?

CMTB I think plans to give out blinkers this xmas season. I hope manong is ok, and no serious injuries. as a bike commuter myself, ang hirap talaga kahit gaano ka kaingat, may mga reckless drivers talaga na nananadya pa minsan na mangitgit sa gutter.

ride safe everyone.

Ganun din ako sa umpisa, everytime na may biglang papara na jeep sa harap ko makikipag murahan at hamunan sa jeepney driver. Pero sa dalas mangyari nakaka ubos din ng energy and takes the enjoyment out of the ride. I've learned to accept na mangyayari at mangyayari pa rin yan and just learn to anticipate the moves of the vehicles the we share the road with. Not saying that you should do the same, but just an option to take.

Agree! We can't control other movements; but, we can control ours. If there's possible danger, slow down or even stop.

^^ True that.

It would be great if you develop a sort of sixth sense which quickly tells you the consequence of your planned actions. Panoorin nyo PREMIUM RUSH (movie)!

The kind of bike riding in the movie Premium Rush is not a good example of safe and responsible riding. If that's your idea of defensive riding then you're one dangerous rider on the street.

Hmmm, I think you may have misunderstood my suggestion.

In PREMIUM RUSH, the protagonist can visualize all sorts of options on the street and the consequences he'll probably get into if he chooses one or the other. That's the sixth sense I was talking about. It would be great if every biker in a split-second can quickly identify a dangerous situation and then (hopefully) choose against it. I admit the riding shown in the movie is not a good example of "defensive riding" but I think we can still take in some lessons from it.

Putting this in the hope that this helps someone:

Watch the front wheels of any vehicle (whether you are riding or driving). The vehicle can only go where the driver points the wheels, it may be the split second a rider needs to respond and slow down/stop.

agree with EJ, dapat ang position natin is sa gilid ng likod ng oto so that the driver can see you better instead sa gitna ng likod..blinker sa harap helps too... i think dapat hindi rin sobra ang gilid pag nag ride ang tendency kasi ng mga oto is pinahan ka so pag sobra gilid mo tatama na sa gutter at masa sandwich ka then sesemplang na..pag may allowance may space para umiwas ng konti..

I know a lot would say "mura lang ang blinker" but the reality is that some commuters just cant afford one, may kinikita naman sila sa trabaho pero kesa ibili nila ng safety gears they would just spend it for food...I think the idea about the blinkers/ helmet charity is great...when do we do this?

Another thing about positioning behind a car driver is to align your bike with the car's wheels. Pagnakakita ng lubak yan, siguradong iiiwas niya ang gulong niya sa malalim na lubak. If you stay in the car's middle, he'll just go over the obstacle or hole without any indication leaving you with only micro seconds to react.

I learned this the hard way on my scooter. I re-learned it again the hard way on my bike.
