Between the two 29ers, which one do you prefer?
2013 Giant Revel 0 29er: Matte black, Gloss black ALUXX-Grade Butted Aluminium XCM V3 29" w/Lockout, 80mm Acera M371 22/32/42 RD Deore, FD Acera 9-speed Hydraulic Brakes 2013 Merida Big Nine TFS 100 29er: Black, White/Blue TFS-D Single SR 29 XCM HLO 100 Shimano M171 42-34-24 CG RD Deore, FD Alivio 8-speed Hydraulic Brakes Your thoughts on these two entry level 29ers would be highly appreciated.

Giant Revel. The 9 speed clinches it for me. That aside from the fact that l have a Giant Revel 0 26er and am happy with it. Just upgrade your fork and wait til the other components conk out before any radical upgrades. Just the 2 cents from a newbie.

Thank you for all the input guys.
I saw a matte black revel 0 29er at ROX in global city and i liked it. :-) Too bad its only available in XS size. Im 5'6" and I think the S size suits me better. +1 on Nyubie's comment. I also share the same sentiment as Mahavishnu's. if ever i upgrade the fork with a 100mm travel, will it still be ok?

I'd go for Giant Revel 0...we have both bikes at home...the Merida TFS 100 also has a bit misfigured geometry...masyado mababa cockpit....8 speed lang din sya...

Sir, try the medium or large size. I'm assuming you are referring to a revel 0 29er. I am 5'6" and owns a small size, matte black revel 0 29er. For an entry-level 29er, the revel 0 looks great and feels great riding it. :-)

I think Big Nine is lighter than the Revel. Geometry wise I prefer the Merida, lower center of gravity, thus more stable for a 29er. Difference bet 9-spd and 8-spd is negligible, only diff is 2-3 teeth
and crucial only on very steep climbs.
