Default Cordillera trails (2012-08-17~08-21) : Banaue, Barlig, Tabuk, Tinglayan, Bontoc

Just want to share our ride on Cordillera trails.

It all started on June (2 months ago), when I receive a message from Motoragon and ArmanRivera, that they are interested in Bontoc to Tabuk via Tinglayan route, after much of responses, I suggested to do it with a loop, doing a loop is fun than back tracking, and it was already in my GPS tracks, but the problems are, I do not know the terrain, where the inns are, and a split line GPS tracks may means trekking. I also mention August 18 ~ 21 is a long holiday, but sadly Motoragon was not available on the said dates, and so, did not pushed it through.

I then, asked Dwoo aka Rorschach about the loop route, he is interested but is not familiar with the route, but with his charm, he extract information from Jake aka Jakoguns and Dayuhan about the itinerary and the inns where we can be safe and sound. And so, on July, the invitation of the loop starts..... My bad, I forgot to mention that Motoragon was not available during those dates.. tsk tsk tsk.. turns out to be positive for me.. tsk tsk tsk..

And so, after sending out a lot of invitations, only 3 of us make out to be present.. tsk tsk tsk..

BTW, I heard that a woman did this trail alone as well...

On August 16, 10pm at Ohayami bus station.

On August 17, 8am at Banaue bus station.

With Avatar Earl.. (Mohawk hairstyle)

Our ride takes off @ 10am in Banaue.

Its time for Avatar Earl to shine at Banaue rice terraces.. tsk tsk tsk...

Off we go to Mt. Polis (a 22km away from Banaue)

We are lucky that even with steep of the road, we are enjoying the views.. such a life of strolling....

We reach Mt. Polis at 1am, took lunch and also bought rice and porkchop for meryenda..

Descending from 1910 MASL to 1047 MASL for about 15km.

Still descending from Mt. Polis, there are still a lot of magnificent views.

And this is it, from Talubin, where should we heading to?

Going to Barlig via talubin, is one of the hardest climb, from 1047 MASL to 2011 MASL for 13km, rough road and loose rocks..

We took our meryenda around 4pm.

Then move on.

We safely arrived Barlig, Sea World Inn and Restaurant @ 8pm.

Thanks to Ate Lourdes of Sea World, to accomodate us. the place was clean and inexpensive.

Day 1 GPS-Tracks

Whatta way to have lunch...

If you happen to see this Chupac shrine? it means downhill time... it is the highest peak between Barlig and Natonin. @ 1853 MASL

Downhill is very steep, check brakes and be extra careful...

Day 3, as we thought this will be our easiest bike ride, descending from Natonin to Paracelis to Tabuk.

It is fun and easy...

But times like these... oh no... tsk tsk tsk...

We reach Brgy. Saliok.

We reach Paracelis. After Paracelis was 20km not so fun ride.. tsk tsk tsk... tulak moments are on the way... tsk tsk tsk...

Quite weary, warm weather and heavy bags is now taking our toll.

It seems that Paracelis and Tabuk main products is Corn.

Thanks to Alvin of the Dagupan Police, who shared stories with us, and guide us where best food there is (Emilia Kitchenette), and Lodge (Las Vegas).
On that very night, we eat a lot.

Day 3 - GPS tracks

Though mostly downhill, for me, this track is muddy and slippery on uphill, making this Day 3 ride difficult than Day 2

Ayduls Drew and Zang, tempting heheheh

I thought from initial teaser pics of Drew, the route was barren grassy mountains;

Awed to the bones Ayduls; to see that the landscapes, routes/road ways are same in Ifugao; with rice terraces; waterfalls

but terrified that its for the hardcore like you with tulak moments; cant believe i can do the 13 km uphills on rough and loose gravel road he hehehe its grade as i can see it much steeper than12 km Ducligan to Mayayao).

Thanks for sharing. Exchange notes tayo over a bottle of SML soon.

Yes, nice view talaga sa Barlig, as mention by Ate Lourdes, na stranded pala ang mga taga Barlig from last year typhoon Peping, this also include Bontoc... still grand to see..

btw.. nag moist yun lens when we're descending to warm place...

Ser VNC.. kayang kaya nyo yan for sure, the ride you make from Banaue - Hungduan - Mayoyao - Santiago was such a feat...

After doing this ride, and have the GPS data, I guess, we made a right choices, doing counter clockwise, is easier than clockwise...
