Default 2013 Specialized Demo 8 Carbon Team Replica, Demo 8 I Carbon, Demo 8 II Aluminum

S-Works comes to the Demo lineup

For 2013 Specialized is offering a variety of new carbon fiber bikes in their Demo lineup. A limited S-Works Team Replica model is going to be offered that gives riders a custom 7 speed micro-drive setup and a narrower rear end. If you don’t have the cash to splash on the Team Replica, there are numerous other options in the Demo lineup including the Demo 8 I carbon, framesets, and numerous aluminum options still.

The biggest news in the new Demo lineup is the inclusion of Specialized’s FACT Carbon Fiber into the front Demo triangle in select models. There are still full aluminum options available as well in the Demo range. **Much of the geometry remains unchanged and the 200mm travel Demo is one of the most popular bikes out there.

FACT CARBON FRAMES
  • WHAT: Two all-new FACT carbon frames with DH Race geometry. The S-Works FACT 11m frame features the magnesium link, while the FACT 10m version shares the same geo and uses the alloy link.
  • WHY: Shaves over 530 grams (claimed) from the Demo frame, plus fine-tuned geometry adjustments for descending performance.
  • HOW: Through extensive testing and experimentation with frame construction methods we were able to combine**the Demo’s World-Championship winning FSR suspension design with our FACT carbon construction techniques.

Demo 8 Team Replica S-Works Carbon Complete
Never before has there been an S-Works Demo before these carbon beauties were announced. Specialized included options that will make any downhill racer drool. They’ve adding a good mixture of lightening up the frameset with carbon fiber and introduced some technology to it as well that allows for more bottom bracket clearance by way of a micro-drive 7-speed drivetrain.

At the top of the food chain is the Team Replica S-Works Demo 8

2013 - Specialized Demo 8 Team Replica

At an MSRP of $10,000 for the Team Replica S-Works model is not cheap in any way. Specialized limited production of the replica’s to 250 units. The Team Replica has a variety of things that set it apart from the rest of the 2013 Demo range, namely the custom 7speed microdrive setup, a slimmer rear end, and custom high-end parts across the board.
As the Demo 8 S-Works models are FACT 11, they get a magnesium link while the Fact 10 frames use an aluminum link

The Team Replica microdrive setup allowed Specialized to use a smaller chainring and bashguard in the front as the custom DT-Swiss 7 speed rear setup goes down to a 9t cog where traditional hubs are limited to 11t.

In addition to the smaller drivetrain footprint, they also implored the use of a 135mm rear end to give racers even more clearance in the back. **More heel clearance as well as additional clearance for slipping**in-between**rocks and other obstacles that you may encounter.

While we’re looking at the back of the bike still, the Demo range utilizes the Butcher tire. **Before Specialized began to develop these tires, it was an uncommon thing to expect performance out of any tire that didn’t have a Maxxis logo on it. **Specialized changed that when they took the time to develop these tires with Sam Hill. **The Hillbilly and Storm also are other awesome tires that has people on non-Specialized bikes buying this tires. **That says something.

So what else do you get with the Team Replica model?

It also uses a more traditional 150mm rear wheelsetup as well. It also gets FACT carbon fiber but the 10m series means you get an aluminum link instead of the magnesium on in the 11m (S-Works).
