I totally agree on this, before im 230lbs now im down 190 thats 40lbs. I think kahit fully carbon pa bike mo kung mabigat ka wala din silbi. A pound that you loose is 453grams, do the math ang dami ng parts combined with that...:)

I agree 100% to your statement.. however, the topic is not about that.. the TS simply wanted to know if a 22lbs bike is possible without carbon fiber component..

unless the rider is made out of carbon fiber, I don't think it is relevant (kidding here)

hmm, rebuilding to a lighter rig with high end parts (as suggested) around a marine palisade frame?!?... soon you will be itching to replace the frame too...might as well sell the whole bike and build a new bike with components as suggested accordingly-- if kaya ng budget.

the fork is the way to go. consider rigid. abot-kaya presyo at app 3lbs na bawas mo dun...

Try this set up then..
Titanium Frame
Titanium cockpit
DT swiss fork XRC100
XTR drivetrain
XTR V brake
Any older high end wheelset that has v-brake contact area and very LIGHT
Tioga spyder saddle

That should be around 20lbs or less

wammiboy, sir the palisades frame is heavy, heavier than XTC and a lot more heavier than Trek 8 series frames. It's a wiser move if you want to change the frame and it saves around 400grams if you switch to trek 8 series.

Guys advice naman po paano pa mapapagaan bike ko. My target weight is 15lbs or less than 18lbs. My current bike is 21.56lbs, i dunno if my scale is accurate since its made in china.

My current setup is as follows:
2009 Vision Pursuit frame
Mosso mosso rigid fork
Shimano M475 hubs
Mavic 223 rims
SLX rd
Deore levers
Avid bb5 brakes
FSA V-drive cranksets.
Crossmark wire-on tire (rear)
Michelin C4 (front)

I was expecting my bike to be 20lbs less since i just switched to rigid fork recently. I'm planning not to upgrade anything other than crankset and tires since my Crossmark isn't the folding one. Whenever i lift my bike naiiwan talaga yung likod, and i think yung tires yung nagpapabigat dun. Is SLX better for weight reduction?

thank you for the replies.

1) your current bike probably weighs more than 21 pounds.
You should go to a good local bike shop and ask them if they have an accurate weighing scale and use theirs.

2) your target for 15 pounds is impossible.

i wonder what makes my bike heavy sir.
can you specify some parts that maybe makes it heavy? so i have the infos on what to upgrade As far as i can tell only the rear tires makes it heavier because it is not folding
Thanks

Napadaan tuloy ako sa Life Cycle kanina ng makita yung picture ng trek 8
32K daw, frame only ... Is it the usual price?

What about the four series, magaan din ba siya? Where else can I buy a four seriesm frame only?

Just take your bike to your nearest reputable local bike store. They will be more than willing to help you with lightening your bike.

yup. mukha ngang mas mabigat sa 21.56 lbs yan maski na Rigid...
palagay ko 25lbs+ pa iyan sir.

malabo ang 18lbs dyan... lalo na ang weight weenie 15lbs.

Your Vision frame is heavy same as most of your parts...
(mga tipong hindi pang weight weenie ba)

how about SLX groupset, I'm currently changing my drivetrain to SLX one by one because of low budget.

Thanks for the input guys, maybe i'll try to find lightweight tires first para malaman since magpapalit na rin naman ako ng tires. Supposed to be Maxxlite 310, lightest tires i know so far, pero hindi kaya ng budget.

Compared sa old parts to SLX, sa crankset pa lang, 'di hamak na mas magaan na ang SLX.
Mas gagaan nga sir...

Maxxlite 310 ??? nakow, sa itsura palang, napakanipis na at madaling mabutas...
Better na tubeless set-up kung mag maxxlite...

Read about Kenda SB8 and Maxxis Crossmark too...
i suggest SB8... 'wag lang talga sa sobrang putik...
