Hehe... My error. I totally forgot the original idea is to get a lighter bike without carbon. In that case.. I suggest Ti parts.

TREK 8500 at 9.1kg

From Page 1 (9.5kg = 20.9lbs)...
though Brakes, Seat post, and Bottle cage are CF's

21.3 lbs - ililipad n yan ng hangin. Ha ha.

Change your cockpit into KCNC brand, yung scandium. (handle bar, seatpost, seat clamp damay nyo n rin skewer)

your crankset to xtr, ramdam n agad yan

your tire to maxxis flyweight.

your brake set (including rotors) into shimano xtr 2012.

Your Pedal into Crank brothers eggbeater.

Suggest lang po.

You might want to check out this build in the KHS thread.

http://www.pinoymtbiker.org/forum/sh...p?t=388&page=7

The bike was at 16.8 lbs with a rigid fork and road tires, although the build included carbon parts. At 16.8, that's a lot of headroom before you reach 22 so you can still save without getting carbon. But if you want to shave more weight off, go Ti.

The TS seems to ride trails/off-road and not on paved road with slick and rigid set-up...

Yes, just showed a possible list of parts that could be picked up. Since that specific build in the link hasn't reached 22 yet, there are parts that could still be replaced so it would cope up in trails. So I guess it would make the 22lb cut off. hehe :)

Depends on your budget. But I personally recommended to diet for the rider. I makes a bigger change over all.

To the TS,

Gaya ng sabi ng iba magaan na bike mo pero kung gusto mo pa pagaanin, gamit ka ng:
1. Manitou R7 (cheaper than SID)
2. 1.75 or 1.95 Kenda Klimax Lite (cheaper yet heavier than Maxxis Flyweight or Maxxlite 310)
3. ZTR Alpine (lighter than Olympic) + DT revo spokes
4. KCNC cockpit (Ti or Scandium)
5. 2011 XT brakeset (terno sa drivetrain o upgrade sa 2012 2x10 XT gruppo)
6. Lighter or Ti-railed saddle
7. CB Eggbeater

6. Lighter or Ti-railed saddle - Ano recommend na cheap yet lightweight na saddle?
7. CB Eggbeater

To answer your queries:

2. I currently use 1.95 Kenda Klimax Lite and never tried its Maxxis counterparts. Labeled on the tire's sidewall is "345G" (1.95 Nevegal: 550G). So far I'm satisfied with its performance on dry to semi-damp trail conditions. I put 40psi (tire's minimum requirement) on it. Bottomline: It's lightweight and fast rolling (as in really fast).

5. Definitely 2011 XT brakeset is lighter (by a few grams) than non-series brakeset. This weight difference may be insignificant for others but for weight weenies it is. It really depends on your budget on this one.

6. Normally lightweight saddles are pricier. You may ask sir bodjok on his 220g Velo saddle.

i owned the 16.8 lbs rigid set-up for village use, you may notice that it became 18.72 lbs when i installed a sid race fork and maxxlite 310's for off road use, maintained that set-up for a couple of years with no problem ( i'm no lightweight at 215 lbs.) now i have an anthem s as the frame and it now weighs 21.5 +/-lbs, but it has a carbon hbar (monkeylite) and cranks (fsa)

bontrager inner tube 127 g compared to kenda 160g

abr seatpost 250 g putulin ng sakto to lessen weight around 210g

saddle open in the middle or yung may hiwas less 25g sa mga full saddle

bawasan ang chain to avoid chain slap and chainstay protector

remove barends and just do well with straight bars less 15-30 g pa sa riser bars

remove large ring replace middle ring w/ 38 tooth (you cant push 50+ speed on and mtb with hard gears so why not 2x10)

pedals to cleats ..yun lang mabigat pa din carbon/ti shoes

uminum ng tubig bago mag ride ..sanayin nalang less bottle cage
