Question Roundagon rotor incompatibility?

I recently installed a 203mm Avid Round-agon (from a boxed BB7) on my fork equipped with a Promax caliper. The bike being stocked and only tested on with various parts, two spacers were lost for each bolt that was fastening the caliper to the adapter. Installation with the stock 160mm rotors exhibited no problem, even without the 4 spacers, however aligning the caliper was a real pain. Got the generic 203mm adapter from an LBS.

However, when installing the 203mm without them 4 spacers, the highest/outermost edge of the rotor was hitting the caliper body! I'm sure I got the 8" adapter. Rummaged around the garage for 4 washers approximately the same size and the rotor now would rub on something inside the caliper. It was at some point in the wheel's rotation, very TIGHT!

With the idea that I had to had them adapters returned/replaced, I lastly tried to use the Avid CPS washers from my BB7 calipers and then just like that, problem solved.

Returned the CPS washers and replaced them with a couple of bulky and oh-so-ugly nuts just to have it being functional for the time being.

Anyone experienced this with Avid roundagon rotors?

I'm not sure but I think some guy suggested something like this:

http://www.pinoymtbiker.org/forum/sh...27&postcount=3

I'm assuming na ang ibig n'yang sabihin ay any 51mm I.S. rear adapter ay one step bigger when placed in a 51mm I.S. front. It looks like 160mm front to 140mm rear ang ibig n'yang sabihin. Ang assumption ko d'yan ay any 203mm FRONT 51mm I.S. adaptor ay same dimensions with a 185mm REAR 51mm I.S. adaptor.

I could be wrong though. Maybe it has something to do with Avid's rotor design. Bihira kasi akong nakakakita ng wavy or polygonal bigger (203mm and up) rotors. Except maybe Avid's roundagons.

Or maybe baka lang my calipers were not designed to run such chunky rotors.

i had a same problem before pero nakuha sa tiyaga, adjust dito-adjust doon. bawas washer/shim-dagdag washer/shim.. yun nakuha ko rin, nawala yung tunog. siyempre kailangan sentrong-sentro yung rotor sa caliper. polygon avid rotor yung gamit ko.

Default pad spacer

mga sir same din un naging problem ko sa avid when upgrading to big rotor, tama sir un sabi nyo na un adaptor sa rear n pang 6 inch pag nilipat sa front it can accomodate 7 inch disc, sir kung nawala un spacer washer ng avid brakes nyo, paki try to use un spacer ng v-brake pads spacer compatible sya especially un sa MOB na pads, it's better to use rather than local washer available and you will find the noise will be eliminated:thumbsup:

Baka yung promax adaptor mo pang 180mm. Avid rotors are 185mm. Anyway, problem solved na.
