Question Press Fit Bottom Bracket

the new giant xtc fr 2011 frames utilizes this kind of BB..
it can accomodate also thru axle cranks............

like this one

what are the benefits and how much does this cost?, can we easily find these BB's in our LBS (quiapo and cartimar)

follow up question --- if this is better than thru axle like this one

(ganito ang gamit ko with 2010 DEORE)
can i use it in my kinesis km310........... baka kasi makabawas sa timbang ULIT.....

Press-fit BBs advantages are: Both the frame and BB doesn't have threads that would wear-out when removed or installed repeatedly. Its is Slightly lighter than other types of BBs. LBS in Quiapo have this type of BBs.

BB press fit for truvativ - PHP 2,000.00

Life cycle price po yan. sa quiapo at cartimar parang di pa available ang pressfit BB

Default Re: Pressed Fit Bottom Bracket

i have a press fit on my trek 8500..bought it in lifecycle.looking for a pressfit shimano gave me a headache, cartimar and quiapo dont have pressfits available...ewan ko lang ngayon.shimano pressfit cost p3,000...p1 thou pressfit? dont know bka lower end or generic un.and i think its 1 pressfit for one frame only, mahirap na yta ilipat un sa bagong frame na ndi masisira ung pressfit.ive tried it...i dont know, mybe you can do better.you cannot use a pressfit if your frame's center bottom is not threadless...

sorry but i think press fit is made/invented for threadless frames thats why press fit also doesnt have a thread.some trek frames that are threadless already have ones on them...unfortunately,mine has not...and it gave me a hard time looking for it,nothing in cartimar and all LBS in quiapo also...got mine in life cycle, greenhills!

Default 2011 GIANT XTC FR BB type inquiry

Mga sirs, newbie question po. I'm planning to buy a 2011 Giant XTC FR frame. I know that it uses press fit BB. Pwede bang malaman kung anong eksaktong press fit BB ang bibilin ko kung SRAM X9 gruppo ang balak kong ikabit? GXP press fit BB30 ba? I have no idea mga sirs. Also, anong type ng FD ang dapat kong bilhin, LOW CLAMP TOP PULL? HIGH CLAMP? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow. That was a quick response :) Thank you very much sir. So to sum it up, for the BB = TRUVATIV GXP Press Fit BB30. And for the FD = Low clamp, Top pull. Correct sir? Thank you very much bro. You made my day.

Default BB (bottom bracket) Press Fit and Threaded ones

Bat parang nagiging standard na sa mga bagong frames ang BB press. I know mas magaan sya by a few grams but I think its must easier to service the threaded once. What's your take on this guys?

re-post ko lang tong link sir re pressfit bb's:

http://bicykel.com/?p=2057

from what i gathered, aside from weight, there's ease of service(you're main worry) and price(pero mas mahal pa dito sa tin)

haven't tried those press fit BB's but i think when it comes to replace them,it will be quite hard.especially pag inabot ka sa long rides.

i still want those threaded BB's

Yun nga sir, good poin. But why are this big bike companies shifting to this kind of technology? Parang mahirap ata diba? Nagiging standard na sya sa mga bagong frame ngayon...

Tingin ko sir companies have to move on and improve their parts kaya they have to introduce these.para may bago.saka kung tutuusin mas magaan nga sya at siguro mas smooth ang pag padyak neto.acceptable siguro sa kanila yun papalitan mo na lang nang buo yun BB para may benta lagi sila.i think same as sa mga kotse.manufacturers find ways to make it more complicated para puro casa ang pagdadalhan mo sa maintenance at kikita sila lagi.

pinapauso na nila yun install and forget tapos pag nasira na just replace it.kaso nga d nila inisip na paano na kung sa road ka nasiraan di ba?

for me po as long as may available pa na threaded.i'l always go with threaded BBs.....

I think this is the main concept of this press fit technology...install and forget so you would enjoy riding without thingking of anything... tamang maintenance lang katapat nya pra hindi ka abutin sa daan... same lang sa sasakyan pag pinabayaan mo kahit bago pa siguradong masisiraan ka.

kakapalit ko lang ng bike with press-fit i dont know at the moment kung anong benefit ko dito ...if you ask me if there is any noticeable change sa pedaling??? ganun pa din sagot ko...parehas lang hirap ako sa ahunan...hehehe

@awatz, ang threaded eh any bb na may thread to attach it to a frame, that includes outboard bb's

press fit on the other hand has no threads. parang ito yung sina unang BB's ng BMX na pressed into the bb cup, tapos bearings and threaded locks. although in this case, wala na yung threaded locks.
