Default Chain Lubes - dry or wet type

Lately, I'm having problems on what chain lube to buy...dry or wet type? Pati I'm having problems with maintaining my chain being rust-free...I doubt it is also on chain lube quality.

Currently, I'm using 3-in-1 oil, and believe me...it still doesn't work...how many days lang nawawala na yung oil...and then next thing my chain is squeaking again...>:(

Giving the pros and cons of the lube would be highly appreciated...:)

Thanks for the tips in advance, guys!!

PROLINK PROGOLD - Doubles as a chain cleaner (apply a little, wipe off, and reapply) so after rides, it's easy to wipe off the dirt. It lasts for a reasonably long time in dry conditions. No need to use any fancy chain cleaner or Joy. Drivetrain is quiet and shifting is smooth. I highly recommend it. (around 385 pesos).

Wet lubes can get really dirty and sticky and they are a pain to wash off. I prefer to use dry lubes and just reapply regularly. If you are an avid cyclist, i personally believe regular chain maintenance should be part of your routine anyway.

Regarding chain rust - if you go off-road most mid to low quality chains will eventually rust or at least tarnish. Best bang for the buck chain that doesn't rust, is light, and strong is Shimano Dura-Ace.

SQUIRT Dry Lube din for me. Before and after ng ride ko nilalagyan yung chain, very smooth talaga ang shifting ng chain.

Dati kahit nalagyan ko na ng chain lube (squirt) after bike wash, may part ng chain na nagkaka rust build up (konti lang naman). Gamit ko chain dati ung XT CN-HG94. I switched to CN-M980 chain & un kahit na galing sa rainy ride & di ko hugasan ang bike walang rust build up. Yes SQUIRT ok na ok.

I get mine from our LBS in Iloilo -- he gets most of his stuff from YKK Cebu so probably Ross and Bikezilla are your best bets in Metro Manila.

Thanks for the info sir. I'm currently using squirt too (I think I got it for 350) but I'm still open for better ones :)

Noted sir! When I have some disposable income (or nothing better to do) I will probably give in to my "I'll try it" disease para I can also give a good review. Pero I still stand by the quality of Prolink. He he he.

+1 Prolink

I have been using it for about 2 years and so far so good. Can be used in wet or dry conditions. Doesn't accumulate on the chain like wax based lubricants. Keeps my chains clean. Just apply it on the chain then wipe it off.

I also use the prolink lubricant pen applicator to lube my pivot points, RD, FD.

Smile Re: Chain Lubes - dry or wet type

Thanks for the suggestions guys! :D

I was using Motorex oil before, but by the time naubos na, I've been having troubles on where to buy a new lube...yan kasi basta kapos sa pera..haha!!

Anyway, I'll give a try on the Squirt and Prolink brands. Kung nagra-rust pa rin chain ko...hmmm...maybe it's time na palitan ko na chain ko (sa bagay, more than 3 years na chain ko)..:)

@multoonbike: Bro, yung CN-M980 chain pwede po ba for 6-speed? Medyo old-skool set-up kasi yung bike ko eh..:) At magkano rin kung pwede for 6-speed?

I'm using Maxima chain lube (motorcycle chain lube) best sya for all weather. degrease first your chain (and dry) before applying. P520 price nya sa motoworld.

after ride konting punas lng tapos apply lng maski konti then let it dry na.

PROLINK - The Best na nagamit ko so far . . . Kaso wala akong sarili, di makahanap nang mabibilhan . . . Kaya nakikipatak/buraot lang . . . Haha!

. . For Me . . .
