Good day. I'm quite new to the mountain biking and I hope that you would help me in setting up my mountain bike. I recently bought a used Jamis Dakar XC frame. What parts would you suggest so I can use the bike for cross country biking (my budget is approx. 20 thousand)? I'm 5'6" in height. Thanks guys!

Bro
Im assuming that you bought a stock bike correct? If your intention is to make it a tad lighter, it would help if you indicate the parts currently installed so that you'd know which one should be upgraded and which one you can retain. I'd like to think that not ALL the parts need to be upgraded in one sweep as some may be decent enough.

Sir redenjaja: Thanks for the input! btw its size 15 sir.
Sir Hedkandi77: My brother recently upgraded his bike frame to a Jamis Parker, so I only bought his old frame. Thanks again.

Nice frame for a newbie. Btw, if your 20k budget is for the remaining parts less na yung frame, for groudset go with deore. around 11k nga yun. Then other parts you need to read the other threads under
Technical HelP http://www.pinoymtbiker.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19 para malaman mo yung ibang parts.

You're probably Lito's brother.
Dami good deals dun.

The best spec'd less than 20k is probably 2009 Mongoose Super Tyax at 18k.
8-speed SRAM X5 RD (more or less Deore equivalent) RD, hydraulic brakes, 100mm Suntour XCR fork with remote lockout.. Can't beat that upgrade nalang to 9 speed, cogs and shifters.. pero too bad hard to find na to especially it is already last year's model
