Sir if you plan to put ashima airotor, you need an adpator, because MT15 is a centerlock type. :)

I dont see any problem dito... ako din pina-convert ko ang wheelset ko from presta to shrader...pero may adaptor na pwede pa din gumamit nang presta... atleast madaming option!

What are you looking for in the updgrade? IMO the MT-15 is an entry level wheelset which would not have any significant gains from your OEM giant wheelset in terms of performance/looks (is subjective)/and weight. If I were you laspagin mo muna yang gulong mo then save up for a real upgrade. MT-65 or Syncros, or Fulcrums and other wheelsets. Or you can customize your set by getting the "bling" hubs (sun ringle, Novatech, Circus Monkey, or even Hope) it depends on your budget.

mt 65's weight is 1796 grams pair
http://www.mtbr.com/cat/tires-and-wh...95_157crx.aspx

mt 15's weight is 1982 grams pair
http://bike.shimano.com/publish/cont...5.-type-..html

weight difference is 186 grams...price difference is 8k...

you can just go folding tires with lightweight tubes and you'll have a lighter wheelset than mt65 with wire bead tires and heavy tubes...

unless you're going american classic wheelset...then the mt15 is the best wheelset for you..

go for it...

That would be a great analogy if weight is our only concern, pero isama na rin natin ang quality, the mt65 at xt wheelsets uses better more durable materials versus that of the mt15, weather sealing is also much better which would contribute to longevity.

I'd like to echo sir titor in that it could not be called an upgrade simply because the mt15would be about on the same level the deorehubs/giant rims on the xtc3, IMHO a better option is to get xt hubs pair it with lighter rims/spokes. a bit pricier by a grand but definitely better

There is a new wheelset in between MT15 and MT65... try MT55

Shimano introduces a new medium range mountain bike wheel set WH-MT55. It features disc brake only compatible clincher rims with Center Lock rotor mount. Besides the quick release version there will be an optional 15mm E-thru front wheel as well (WH-MT55-F15). This wheel set has been developed with 24 straight pull spokes and it will become available with black and white rims. Weight: 1920g/set.
The current wheel set WH-MT15 is redesigned with a choice in between white and black rims.

price is also in between of the two. But i think this one is not tubeless ready like the MT65

guys thanks sa info. this will save me some money for the real upgrade. parang magaan din yung stock wheelset ng xtc ko. medyo plasticky yung rims.

ill keep an eye out for mt55.

been using this for 3mos already.. very satisfied, matibay and madulas din ang bearings, comparable siya sa mavic crossride.. except for minor advantages on the crossride.. the 2012 mt15 parang magkamukha na sila ng mt55. great wheelset for 4,700 petot only.
