2010 trek 8500 frame sells for 18k. but you need to buy a press fit bottom bracket separately. in my case for a shimano crank which set me back another 2.5k :)

if it's a 2010 model you need to buy a press fit bottom bracket shimano or truvativ

no need for 2009 below model

Default Maximum fork travel for Trek EX5

Anybody know what maximum fork travel a Trek EX5 can accomodate? I've searched the Trek site, and their built EX's mostly sport 120 mm forks. Scoured the net but haven't been lucky to find some information.

Any inputs is highly appreciated. TIA!!! :)

I was asking for the same question and asked Trek Bikes directly and this is the answer i got.

"Changing to a longer travel fork could change the handling characteristics of your bike. It would also void the frame warranty. This is because of the fact that a fork acts as a lever, transmitting force to the headtube. A longer fork is a longer lever and can put more stress on the headtube. Since the bike is designed to use a 120mm fork, anything longer is beyond the intended design parameters."

Thanks, serr for the clarification!

Sayang, akala ko the EX5 can accomodate up to 140 mm travel.

Mukhang Remedy 7 na lang ang option...
