Default The most worthless/useless bike part/accessory you've ever bought

Time to start a new thread. Post here your most useless or worthless bike purchase (part or accessory). I'll start.

1. Generic bike repair stand (ala Park tool) - Repair stand for 2500? I was suckered -- Right off the bat, it was difficult to use/clamp the bike. You need two hands on the clamp to clamp the seatpost, leaving, well... zero hands to hold the bike up. Clamp was weak. Tilt adjustment didnt hold the bike up properly. The tightening lever for the tilt eventually broke, after the stand fell backwards- unstable kasi. The clamp eventually stopped clamping. Its now a glorified bike hanger - I hang the bike by the saddle from the clamp area. Destined for the scrap yard.

2. Generic china hex wrench sets - Do not buy/use these for your repairs. They "round" out at the slightest hint of torque, and could possibly round out your bolts as well. Learned this the hard way.

Some things I got but never used (not necessarily worthless/useless):
1. Specialized "S" logo stickers - Bought 2 for P25. I still don't know where and when to use them.
2. Giro Mad Max full-face helmet - A long time ago I thought I'd ride DH someday but I never did.
3. Extra pair of Sandugo Storm shoes - Bought them for wet rides. They were good with platform pedals, but now I use cleats (Shimano DX shoes & Shimano M-545)
4. Bottle with cage - Planned to use it with my generic bike before. But the location is under the downtube which is very prone to mud splatter.
5. Kickstand - Came with my generic bike before, took it off before it left the store.

Gel for saddle, no effects on long rides, it becomes hard rock too.

1. my mob pedals...kala ko un yung maingay pagpumipedal..yung crank maluwag lang pala..darn!!!

2. my ringle handle bar(not orig)..the diameter of the bar is way to small..especially the part where you put the grips..my grips always slip out..

so far yun pa lang, better think twice or more before buying to avoid problems in future...hehehe

you might have gotten a lemon bro...

i've been using mine for 2+ years. it was given to me by a friend who used it for a year and was given to him by another friend who used it for almost a year. its my only pump, don't have a floor pump and my brother even uses it for his scooter.

well i guess either its a lemon or they don't make it as good as they use to.

sir, if it's literally "putol", then you might've really gotten a lemon. that also happened to me. but i noticed that the part that came off from the pump has a thread inside so i opened the parts that can be opened on the pump, searched for somewhere i can screw it back, screwed the part that came off, and voila! my pump is ready to do some pumping again. :juggle:

bought an sks x-blade mudguard...cool looking contraption...thinking that i could use it on trail rides...i was wrong...the sound it makes when it hits the rear tire over bumps at high speeds will make you crazy :)

it was my mistake though i think it's designed for touring only...made an attractive freebie though on an old fs frame that i sold.

i still have the shockblade.

I purchased this thing called the Minoura "Space Grip". When I saw it on the internet it look like a small T-handle that connects to your handlebars to mount extra accesories. ie. lights, heart monitor etc.
When this T Handle THING arrived in the mail it was HUGE! It looked like MASSIVE cork screw handle on my handlebars! You could mount a small TV on this thing! Yup, this was a worthless and useless part. Anyone want it.

OT: I discovered this also when my 2 y.o. son played with it. Almost got mad when I saw the pump into 2 pieces : ) only to find out it really can be disassembled by merely unscrewing the thread that connects the 2 shafts : )

My useless buy is a cheap cycling jersey. doesnt absorb sweat and too hot to wear.
