Thumbs up Who's doing bike to work?

who among you guys bike to work?
im sure more and more will bike to work due to the weekly gas price hike
post your bike routes, your best time and experiences on the road to and from work.
i've been biking to work for nearly a year and a half now and i had a lot of encounters along the way including a tocino and dog chases to name a few.

Greenhills, San Juan to Amorsolo, Makati once a week, passing Makati Mandaluyong bridge; 7.5 kms more or less one way. Fastest time was around 18 minutes (may hinahabol). Longest time was around 3 hours (passed by Powerbikes kasi)

Bike comuter here.
'been doing it since years back.
mandaluyong to makati and back daily.
mandaluyong to any point in metro manila and neigboring places on some days.
bike all the way on weekend rides.

at first the added reason is the show off factor.

now perhaps, it's to show example that it is a doable alternative to driving or using fossil fuel for transport.

I wish those persons sitting on the traffic-stopped jeepneys and cars, specially those who have loved biking when they were kids develop that idea when they see bike commuters wheez through traffic.

to those thinking of bike commuting and trying to reckon the pros and cons...
JUST DO IT........ and live happily ever after....except when you crash and die which is another story hehehe.

remember the ethanol spill last Monday...this is how I was smiling at motorists when I was bike commuting
at the rate gas is going and the human traffic at the MRT I'd bike commute rain or shine. Sarap eh!!!
So to all those who have not thought bout bike commuting give it a try dont be shy. Pero if you dont have shower at the office and cant do away with wisik wisik do this ---->
Tandang Sora - Ayala Ave
GAS Savings = around 7 liters of gasoline
Parking = around 80 pesos
Travel Time = 1 hour
Distance 1 way = 20 km
So you ask me if I'd still bike commute even if gas goes down to 30 PHP/L...ooohhh yeah!

i don't regularly bike to work, but when given the chance, oh yeah...even in the heat of summer, even when raining (especially now that i have fenders, he he he).

Locations: Mandaluyong (Boni-munisipyo) to McKinley Hill and back
Distance: 8.7 kms one way
Travel time: 24 to 31 mins, varies on stoplights.
Route: San Francisco St. (open canal), Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge, JP Rizal, Lawton/Gate 1, I-don't-know-the-streets-in-The-Fort, McKinley, American Cemetery, Lawton ave, McKinley Hill.

if you see a guy with a jeans, knee/shin guards, elbow pads, black bike and a full face helmet, that's probably me. if i don't greet you, don't mind me.

hehe, i just got fenders last weekend. i've been wanting it to rain just so i could use them!

Mandaluyong - Antipolo, 2-3 times a week in the morning
Antipolo - Mandaluyong, 2-3 times a week in the afternoon or evening
Both trips on separate days.

20-25k per trip depending on the route i take (marcos or ortigas)
45min - 1hr travel time.

i save around 3 liters of gasoline and up to 30minutes per trip.

i started doing this because i just wanted another bike. I "used" the rising fuel costs to justify the purchase so i felt that i had to bike commute to "pay" for the bike. but after doing it for a couple of weeks, i found that i really enjoy taking my bike more than my car for i easily get stressed and agitated when i drive. On the bike, i feel free. free from traffic, free to make detours, free to stop and visit places i normally won't when i'm driving!

i haven't really tried biking-to-work but will do it soon, actually i'm already gearing up. it won't be a regular thing for me but at least i may do it once or twice a week.

this will be my route:

mandaluyong > boni circle > open canal > makati-mandaluyong bridge > makati ave > dela costa > salcedo towers.

barely 6 kms one-way. at an average speed of 20kph, 15mins and i'll be in the office.

its nice to know that many people are bike commuting.
by the way gas prices are going, i think more will consider bike commuting. i was surprised to read some of us have been bike commuting for years now!
i used to commute via the mrt, mla-makati-qc. kaya lang nakakainis! sobarang sikip sa mrt. your literally packed like sardines.
when you bike air is free flowing, hehehe.....
fresh na fresh. huwag ka lang bubuntot sa mga jeep at taxi.
find alternative routes para mas konting usok ng sasakyan ang malalanghap niyo. a shower after the ride is very refreshing indeed.
ride safe mga bros!

this incident happened around 4am but the effect was felt till noon. very bad! isipin mo kung naipit ka dun sa traffic kung ilang litro ng gas ng naubos mo. you've been consuming your gas without going places! talong-talo!
buti na lang naisipan mong pumadyak!
