I think nagbago ng naming convention ang merida regarding their new products para mas madali marketing. merida140 for 140mm travel bike, merida120 for 120mm travel etc etc.

Smile Merida Matts Trail Hardtail Frames

Good day...

I've been reading around the forum and found out that most hardtail Merida frames being mentioned are the Merida Matts TFS frames only. I am planning to replace my frame with a Merida hardtail but wanting a higher front suspension too. With some reading on the Merida website, I found out that the Merida Matts Trail frames can take 120mm front suspension. Are there bikes shops that sell such frames? I read from IronBike that their 2012 models are just TFSs.

Just in case I settle for the Matts TFS model, can it take a 120mm to 140mm? :(

Thank you, PMTB... :)

Default Fork travel on merida 120 frame etc

Hi guys. been riding for quite some time now. bought my MTB last year and later upgraded the frame to a FS.

recently I had my fork serviced (SR suntour epicon). I requested my mechanic to increase the travel of the fork to 140 from 120mm. now my fork is abit longer.

how can you say na sira yung geo ng bike? sa pag tingin lang ba sa tindig niya o sa pag sakay?

test rode it in filinvest trail for the past 2 days and all i can say is that it is much better compared to before. di naman mahirap pag umaakyat siya and mas comfortable ako pag pababa.

im just a bit bothered kasi sa mga nababasa ko din about ruining your bikes geo, its not safe, stay with the frames orig travel etc. but from time to time may mga nababasa din naman ako na they did this and that. sensya na dami ko tanong. im abit new to the hobby.

Lastly... is it really important to follow the correct sag specified by the manufacturer?

kasi pag ginagawa ko yun i find the ride abit harsh. right now if i remember it correctly yung front fork ko has 70-75psi and my rear has 55-60psi. the ride is plusher though mga 10mm or so na lang bottom na. but i like it that way. mas feel ko kasi na kapit yung dalawang gulong ko lagi sa lupa compared nung naka sunod ako sa proper sag.

hope you guys can shed some light. thank you very much.

hi sir, i think you wont have any problem with ruining your frames geometry. HFS 120 geometry can handle fork from 100-140 mm of travel.

Regarding air pressure . its really not important to follow the manufacturers Sag specification, they did it for so that you can have a basis lang. For short ikaw pa rin ang masusunod. In my case i did follow the fork sag advised by the manufacturer but decided to have a different psi on my rear shox than what was advised.

"how can you say na sira yung geo ng bike?" - if you didn't follow manufacturer frame specs.

"Lastly... is it really important to follow the correct sag specified by the manufacturer?" - yes, its really important.

you really should follow manufacturer's specifications, one of the main reasons why you should follow them is because they know the optimized performance of their product.

to add sir. . . baligtad po ata ang na-remeber nyo. . . or is it really set-up that way? sa frnt po kasi eh usually 60% of riding weight at sa likod eh 100%, thus mas malaki usually ang values sa rear than the front

rider preference sir. . . but itshould be noted that we do not deviate too much from it since d natin mama-maximize ang benefit ng suspension fork natin
