Is this a good bike (all-in-all)? Is it ok for trail?

Its an entry level xc bike, good for commuting and mild dry trails...i guess you have seen the bike in the Merida site:

http://www2.merida-bikes.com/en_INT/Bikes.Detail.64

I too have a Merida Sub series...a Sub 20 that is...though upgraded some components to make it more adaptable to trails...

my first bike was a low end merida bike...
2007 kalahari 8 (SUB 10... they just changed the design a bit, but this looks pretty much like my old bike)... was able to use it for a few months in sta rosa trails... until the upgrade bug bit me.

i'd suggest you save up for a better bike. i ended up spending more for this bike in the long run...

Default Who carries Merida

Peeps,

I tried contacting the Merida Phil distributor from their website and it seems that they do not carry any of the higher end lines or frames.

I've seen quite a bit of Meridas here online and am wondering where they got theirs. Basically, interested in an HFS hardtail bike or frame. If they have the ninety nine 1000D that would be nice too.

Any referrals?

Thanks

3T Turbo Trading is the importer company of Merida, Trek, Giant.
Primary distribution stores are: LifeCycle and the R.O.X. 3/F bike shop

They order in batches, they could just be out of the particular Merida frame now. I heard from Ruben in ROX that upcoming next import batch will come by May or June (if I heard right).

Btw, if you purchase thru the above stores, you will likely not get any discount as they protect their dealers, who in turn give dealers' discounts (5-10% on cash).

John Wilkie (Israel) is a good dealer, got my Merida HT there.

got my TFS frame at 7.5k here in laguna.. but that was last year.. the TFS frames now cost around 9.5k to 10.5k. :( As for FS, it depends, I do like the mission line with the Low ratio suspension.

Can a merida Matts-TFS XC frame use a 120mm fork? kase I've checked all the builtbikes na merida under the MAtts TFS XC -- lahat ng fork nila is using 80mm travel...

thanks

Fellow Merida owner,

Somewhere in the internet I came across a Merida Tfs equipped with a 120 travel fork. Sad thing is I don't remember the site. So I adjusted mine to 120 and used it on trails several times already. My Tfs 900 is still fine and I weigh more than 200lbs.

So maybe it's okay.

Smile Everything I Should Know About Merida Matts 20-MD

I am an owner of Merida Matts 20-MD which was recently bought 22nd of March 2010.

I believe this thread will help me and the rest of the newbies in this forum in knowing everything about their Matts 20-MD.

Is Merida Matts 20-MD capable of travelling different trails, or just good for city driving?

Many thanks.

@willlowdan

I dont see any reason why your merida cant make it in different trails. May nakikita ako minsan na mall bikes gamit sa trail rides and they made it through. Ride your mtb, try mo mag trail ride, then you will be surprised on what your mtb can do..

ride safe

Hi ghorio,

Cool ... meaning I should simply try to join groups to feel it ... any groups you suggest? I think I'll enjoy being with many bikers. I'm from Paranaque, West Service road.
