Mga gurus let me start by saying that this is my first thread here hope you could help an old timer like me. I was into mountain biking from 1986 (I still remember the good old greenhills and PICC days ) up to 1998 and recently thinking of going back again. And boy grabe na pala ang technology ngayon. The high end stuff that we used then is lower than entry level by todays standards.
Anyway I would like to buy a front fork. And these two models are good enough for the type of riding I want to do (Occational trail and mostly paved road rides). Which do you think is better, price and marketing gimmicks aside? RST Gila Pro 09 model with remote lock out or SR Suntour XCR with remote lock out. On paper parang pareho lang. What do you guys think?

You wont go wrong with XCR. Experience ko sa Gila Pro laging may grease yung telescopic lumalabas sa seal. Akala ko nung una dahil bago lang pero naka ilang buwan ganun pa din. Nagpalit ako ng XCR mas swabe at mas magaan. Same story with my friend's Gila Pro.

Base on my personal experience, im using xcr08 on my gts and gila09 on my khs, mas stiff mag play ang gila compared to the xcr kaya i recommend gila for heavy built biker by the way i weigh 92kg kaya i choose gila.

Thanks for opening up this Thread Bro! I badly need it!
I am currently using a Zoom fork on my XC trail bike. I have a spare '08 Gila Pro without lockout. Btw..Here's the latest in pricing as of Jan 5 at King's: '09 RST Gila Pro: Php1,600 '09 SR XCR: Php2,200 -These are Without lockouts so at least we would know the cheapest we can get. Hindi pa si Jane ang kausap ko dito so we expect further discount pa..hehe ![]() Since i am quite tight in budget, Here comes my li'l dilemma.. Should I use my spare '08 Gila Pro? or sell it and buy a Bnew XCR? ![]() So far, it seems that XCR is taking a lead here.. including the price ![]() Aside from price, does it Really make a Big difference between WITH or withOUT lockouts? I mean do we really have the luxury to consciously stop or remotely lock or unlock our forks WHILE pedaling excitingly and aggressively on the trail? ![]() Also, kinda a bit OT here, but how do you find RST Launch? Ang dami kasi mga DJ and DH riders dito sa Marikina who's into RST Launch? Hindi na rin kasi nagkakalayo price niya sa Gila Pro and XCR. Do you think its also an alternative? Thanks for your future replies! This can help our newbies and tight budget brothers!
