The GT that you saw at Marikina is already OK, upgrade na lang if you feel the urge to do so...

i resume mountain biking on a MALL BIKE (ranging from 3-5k only, believe it or not)...
just to test whether kaya ko pa or not...
slowly but surely, nagpalit ako ng mga piyesa, until such time, nabuo ko ulit ung MALL BIKE, at ung mga naipon kong parts as another bike...

Good evening sa inyo! This is the first time i'm posting; I just registered.
I hope i don't sound mayabang with my username (yellow jersey) he-he, un lang kc ang unang pumasok sa isip ko at hindi na ko nag-isip ng iba. Anyway gusto ko kasing magtanong. After reading many of the posts of our co-members, I went to King's and asked one of the salesladies kung anong specs ng mtb ang pwede kong mabili with my budget of 12k. After computing, she had 12.5k as total. She didn't want to give the itemized list but just showed it to me. Eto lang natandaan ko:
Schwinn Frame - 2.2k
RST Fork - 1,700
Components - Altus Groupset
plus all the other parts whose brands were not specified.

Gusto ko sana Vision Pursuit frame at XCR fork, kaso lalampas daw sa budget ko.

Questions:
Is anyone familiar with the quality of the schwinn frame?
Comparable ba ito sa Vision Pursuit or sa GT Avalanche?
Is it's geometry suitable for XC?
May mga different sizes din ba ito?
Ok lang ba ung specs for the said price?

Kindly give me some advise.

medyo naligaw ka yta ng post. medyo matagal na tong thread na to. but to answer your question, medyo ok naman yung price nya kasi i check the schwinn website mga 400-500 dollars yung built bike nila. At mas mura parts dito kaya swak sa budget mo. di ako familiar sa quality nya but if your really like vision or avalance go for it bro. Im a vision rider. 4k price nya. AIght! might add another bucks bro.

Konting payo at tulong po. Ako po ay bibili ng built-bike sa aking bakasyon sa 2nd week nitong May, sorry po konting panahon nalang sana maihabol. Budget ko ay 15K max na yun, at iyon lang ang aking approve budget from the commander-in-chief

Bale gagamitin ko sya 50/50 - on/off road. Entry level bike ko ito, at hindi ako gaanong nakakapagride, tuwing bakasyon lang, which is 2 weeks lang, so after nun, stock muna bike.

Ito po napipintog kong set-up, kailangan ko ng konting payo galing sa inyo kung ayos ba ito.

GT Avalanche 3.0 - Frame
SUntour XCR 100mm w/ remote lock
Shimano Alvio groupset
tapos generic na the rest ng component.

Ang inyong mga suhestiyon ay malugod kong tatanggapin. Salamat po.

7.5K na pala yung Alivio? Hehe may nabasa kasi ako dito sa lumang post 6.5K lang laki pala ng tinaas.

20K? 15K lang approve budget sir hehe, dapat pagisipan kung ano parts mai-sacrifice ko hehe.

Yung Avalanche3 tumaas din kaya presyo? 3.5K daw ayun sa lumang thread, kapag tumaas din, resort na ako sa K2 na frame.

Nagtataas pala kapag bakasyon ang presyo, hindi ko napaghandaan yun ah!

Aabot din pala ng 5K yung natitira kong parts mukhang malabo nga sa 15K kung ganon.

sayang at reserved na yung bike. madali na naman iconvert to geared setup... 8speed lang muna ok na since tight budget... unti-untiin mo na lang. anyways, 2 weeks mo lang gagamitin then pahinga na muna yung bike, right?

what's important is the base bike is really good... so don't rush. mahirap gawin, pero kaya with a little patience. and besides, baka magka-upgraditis ka... baka la pa isang buwan iba na kagad parts ng bike mo.

Its better na mag provide ka for some allowance sa 15K budget mo. Try to move around, and make good bargain too. Its normal na yung 10K budget, sa 15K natatapos. So, most likely, yung 15K budget mo.......sa 20K matapos hehehe

For alivio groupset, palagay ko you can make it sa 15K. I also started my ride with Alivio groupset some years back and if i remember it right, it took me some 13K only.

GT Ava and alivio is a good start... it can bring you a loooong way...

Sir, if ever ma extend mo pa yun budget mo mas ok. Tama mga suggestion nilang lahat. Kasi sa budget mo na 15k it will includes only the ff:

Frame = 4.5k (vision or GT avalanche)
Alivio groupset = 7.6k

additional parts to invest:

headset
Stem
handlebar
seatpost
seatclamp
pedals
rims
spokes & nipples
tires
interior

Don't forget this:
safety tools (tire lever, patched kit, screwdrivers multitools,)
extra tube
gloves
helmet
shorts
arm warmer

at a limited budget, bro may makukuha ka nang built bike, with almost the same components maybe less, pero at least may sukli ka pang pambili ng safety gear. june 2008 may mga trail worthy nang built bikes sa cartimar. hindi high or mid end ang pyesa, pero since tuhod naman unang idedevelop. it's more than able to deliver.

Yup, 2 weeks lang na gamitan hehe, tapos tago ko na ulit sya hehe. Ahh! importante pala maganda na yung mga base bike ( ito ba yung frame, FS, gearset?hehe, di ko alam e). Baka sa susunod na uwi ko nun yung upgraditis, ang gusto ko ma-achieve sa ngayon e, may baike ako magagamit sa bakasyon ko na ito. Salamat po.

Hmm, ito pala ang listahan ng bisikleta na gagawin ko hehe, ang dami pala! kaya masarap talaga magbuo kapag may oras ka at perang panggastos, kumbaga sa karera o sa anumang paligsahan "sweet victory" hehe

Nagmahal na talaga ang parts, 3.5K lang budget ko sa frame 4.5K na sya ngayun at nagtaas pa ng P100 yung gearset mula kahapon hehe, sana di na magtaas pag-uwi, para pagpadyak na lang intindihin ko.

Pero those safety gears, are they available also at our LBS? Meron lang ako helmet lang, tingin din ako rito baka meron.
