i would tend to agree with bambini... but you need to define first where you would mosly use the bike...
at that budget, you can use that mostly XC only... go for a built bike... for that budget, you can get a good hardtail... i also got a fuji nevada 4.0 last May at 12k but lesser features (RD is altus, fork is RST, OEM na hubs and fuji cockpit)...

There are lots of built bikes in cartimar, mga GT's, Treks, Ironhorses ranging 12th - 18th, yung Giant na nakita ko sa wheelers, 14th lang decent parts na, naka db na yet mech. its ok, with mixed parts of alivio, acera and tektro. At least they are original built bikes. GT bikes are OK too.

The guys are right, be sure first of what type of Mountain Bike do you want.
If possible get a built one. Just take your time and be patient in looking in different LBS to give you ideas on the different type of bikes and so you can also compare. With that kind of budget I'am sure you can get a good entry level MB.

Got my dad a Jamis TrailX hardtail from sabak for 12500. It's a pretty decent bike for the price. Spend around 3k more to get a 9-speed drivetrain and you've got a fully functioning trail worthy bike. Nothing wrong witht the stock 7-speed but I have doubts about the durability of the components and you don't want a breakdown ruining your trail ride.

good day,
tama sila sa cartimar o quiapo..depende din sa klase ng bike.pero sa cartimar may complete bike na na below 13k..magnda na ang frame para sa price nya...but in the long run, magpapalit ka din ng ibang parts... i started w/ 11k before.nakabili ako ng frame na maayos...may mga frame akong nakita na below 3k like pusuit (vision) and chucker (GT) .sinubukan kong magtanong at tumawad pwede naman sa cartimar ok din pero pag magbubuo ka mas advisable sa quiapo.mas nakakamura....hope this would help you decide.makipagbargain ka lang at maraming mabababait na tao.

You may want to consider the following:
Giant Yukon / Rincon / Boulder Trek 4500 or 3900 Fuji Nevada Some Merida models Louis Garneau Jamis Cross Country Actually, there may be more selections within your price range, suggest you visit the bike shops around the Metro for ideas. Typically, you will get a 4" travel hard tail for your budget that is built with an 8-speed drive train. Safe rides! ![]()

i agree with jonsj, if you tend to make mountain biking a regular thing, consider buying a more decent bike or assemble a bike with your preferred parts. Most of the time, we rush to buy a built bike only to find out that some parts are inferior and end up spending more bucks for upgrades.
Therefore, may i suggest that you buy parts one at the time. Look for good deals or buy second hand parts (check out the trade sections). It is more fulfilling to assemble a bike rather than just buying a built bike ![]()
