Mga Kapatid sa Bisekleta,
Pls. help naman. In one of the LBS here in Laguna, may nakita po ako na merida Trans-mission HFS & Giant Anthem po ata ung katabi sa display rack almost same price po sila. Physical features parang mas matibay ung merida. Alin po kaya mas ok bilihin? Try ko read mga review nila but I trusted more what PMTB bros & sis would say. TIA

IMHO, the Merida TransMission is more of a trail bike and the Giant Anthem is more of an XC race bike. If I'm not mistaken, the TransMission has 5" rear travel while the Anthem has 4". Expect the Merida to have slacker frame geometry and the Giant to have steeper angles. I believe the Anthem will weigh in as the lighter bike of the two.
Choose according to the type of riding you intend to do. It's also good to compare the component spec. ![]()

Sir Titanium

Multoonbike,
if that's the case, I believe that the Merida TransMission would work for you as an all-rounder. Just keep in mind that "Urban" may mean city commuting to some, OR, street/park riding to others. Also, "XC" could mean mellow trails to some, OR, cross-country racing to others. Good thing you mentioned "trail" as one of your intended usages. If we're talking trail riding, then the TransMission seems to be the obvious choice. After you've determined where your priorities lie (Urban vs. XC vs. Trail usage), then you can start judging your choices as to which one tickles your palate. And if you find the Merida more pleasing to your eye, I can't see why you should not pick it over the Giant. ![]()

Sir TiGS,
Thank You. Your advise is always enlightening & inspiring. @Crimson, Without promoting intent, sa Green Planet San Pablo (Sir Erwin) 55K tag price both giant & merida.

sir you can try ROX(8564638) at the Fort or Lifecycles(5842442) in Greenhills. They are the official distributors of giant bikes, as well as trek and merida, in the phils

Walang Anthem sa Lifecycles ngayon - any model. Wala rin Trance whatsoever. I was there a couple of weeks ago. Just call na lang to inquire when they will have stocks. Nobody there told me to ask at ROX either - or volunteered any information - probably not interested in my business.

i'll go for Merida, simply because it is really intended for trail use (if you really want to use your rig for trailing). in my opinion Giant is merely for XC use

GIANT is all i can say,may bobbing effect ang merida and mas pulido ang geometry ng giant compared to merida, the fact that i've been researching here for more than a month, sobrang dami ng magandang feedback about giant and it's MAESTRO technology, smooth pedaling,no bobbing and no waste of energy, sure win ka sa giant,on the other hand ok ang porma ng merida pero para sakin hanggang porma lng,hnd pa tlga nila na-iimprove ng maayos ung frame nila although maraming gumagamit dahil bang for the buck ang frame na to,hehe, halatang 1 sided comment ko,go for GIANT!
