magandang tingnan ang disc brake pero I would still want the regualr V brakes. Sa folding bike na naka v brakes, parang naka discbrake na ka na din na may 20 inches na rotor, the rims serve as rotors

Di sulit ang upgrade kung mechanical disc brakes lang din from V-Brakes. Not advisable kasi yata mag hydraulic brakes (HB) kasi hindi safe to fold the hoses of HBs when folding the bike.

I replaced the stock slick tires with Innova folding tires 2.1 para di ko masyado ramdam ang mga lubak at bato. Btw Peerless not Dahon ang bike ko.

Santi,
If that is a standard road bike drop bar, you just can't slap an MTB brake lever or shifters in there. The size/diameter of MTB parts there are smaller and it won't slide in the handlebar. Even if you can put them there, shifting would be difficult or you have to make adjustments because the way to press the shifters would be awkward using MTB parts on roadbike drop bars. You may also find that with folding bikes, 2m of cable may still be too short so that your brake levers may be too taught or at their limit. Also, though I won't dissuade you from using drop bars, it may be a tad overkill to use drop bars. Unless you are running 32kph or up most of the time, the aerodynamic improvements of a drop bar won't be felt vs a bullhorn bar. That is why most of us went to bullhorns instead of drop bars. Coolstuff also sells a bullhorn that can accommodate MTB shifters and brakes. But you still have to make adjustments as MTB shifters assume a flat bar or riser shifting which is horizontal in orientation vs vertical in a bullhorn or drop bar. I almost forgot, drop bars are going to be bulky and if you fold your bike, it will occupy too much space even if you do a tern outside fold. If you do the standard in-between the frame fold typical of most Dahons, your already have a problem. How can you now fold your bike with a drop out handlebar? Thus you lose portability. Going bimodal now becomes close to impossible. You may even have a hard time putting your folded bike inside those big provincial buses! With a 52T chainwheel, you would also find it hard to maintain an efficient pedaling RPM to maintain 34kph and above for long periods of time. To get to pedal efficiently without overcranking with a 20" FB, you may have to uprade to a 55-60T crank. In any case, if you are talking urban traffic, 15-20kph is just typical. A bullhorn or drop bar will not have any advantage in speed or energy savings compared to a flatbar at these speeds.

thanks for the advice.
yes of course mtb shifters won't fit on a drop bar. thats why i need to change it with a flat bar, mate! and Yeah its quite overkill but i got the bike pre-owned. blame the previous owner ![]() hope to meet you guys soon!

Aren't the stock pedals on FBs also folding pedals? So, should I replace the stock pedals with clipless pedals, won't the clipless pedals get in the way of folding the bike properly? Also, are the clipless pedal spindles of the same size and thread as the stock folding bike pedal spindles?
