Hutchinson 650b tires and Black Mamba XC 29 tire

Hutchinson is developing new 650b tires in the Cobra, Cougar and Toro line-ups. The 650b Cobra will come in 2.10 and 2.25 width, the 650b Cougar will come in 2.20 and 2.40 width and the 650b Toro will come in 2.35 width. Check the “MTB Tire Matrix” graphic below for a visual idea of the line-up. The 650b offerings will be available around September of this year.

Developed with help from World Cup racer Julien Absalon (winner of the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics), the new Black Mamba tires comes in 26″ and 29er versions and feature a very minimalist tread design for the XC racing crowd. It features Hutchinson’s Air Light process (to make tires lighter) and Tubeless Ready technology to make these tires “Light & Fast”. The 26×2.0 version is 425 grams. The Black Mamba is also available in 29×2.0 and both versions will be available next month (July). It will be exciting to see if Julien can pull the Trifecta this year!


Also new from Hutchinson for 2013 are the Squale and DZO DH tires. The Squale and DZO both come in 26×2.60 size with hardskin compound.
