Bought my Karakoram 1.0 around the same time. I noticed there were only slight changes with the 2013 model particularly on the crank and bb from FSA to Shimano and the fork from Rockshox XC32 to XC30.

Just wondering what upgrades and modifications have you done with your karakorams. I'm planning to replace the fork with 120mm travel, the stem and the seatpost too to fit my riding style AM/Trail.

I've tried the GT Avalanche on it's Triple Triangle frame and it's one of the harshest hardtails I've ever tried. Matagtag?

@ujin11: for your height, it's large. max seatpost height ka na sa medium.

@Gundam168: I don't find the ride of the Karakoram harsh probably because it's a 29er. Mas naabsorb ng larger wheels yung bumps. One factor I chose a 29er hardtail over a 26er hardtail. Ayos din kasi yung saddle nya WTB Pure V kaya comfortable yung ride.

The Avalanche (and probably the Karakoram) is extremely rigid and harsh.. Probably the stiffest frames in the industry for their class.. I agree its harsh, but then again it's reassuring that the frame can take more punishment than I can give or take.

My only worries is that my components or my body/skills will fail.

Gt karakoram user here. So nag decide ako mag medium lng. So far wala ako problem.

Hi ujin11. Bumigay na yung isang stock pedal ko kaya I was forced to replace it. So I opted to get another flat pedal. I forgot the brand pero made in taiwan. I noticed lang a bit heavier sa stock pero sulit dahil mas ok yung grip ng pins sa shoes.

Nope. I really find it matagtag in the saddle. XCR forks, SB8 2.1 tires. And the 17" seemed larger than other 17s. Buti na lang na-try ko muna bago ako bumili.

Hi ujin. Pwede mo naman bawasan yung handlebar but actually mas recommended yung longer for better steering lalo na sa technical trails since dyan mahina ang 29er compared sa 26er. I replaced my handlebar recently with a longer one and I immediately noticed the improvement with its handling and steering. I'm more confident especially during downhills. I also replaced the grips similar sa ergon grips para mas comfortable sa kamay. Planning to replace the stem as well with something shorter like 70mm or 90mm ang haba kasi ng stock 120mm ata.
