Default Converting Old Giant MTB to Road Bike

Magandang araw!

Mayroon kasi akong minanang lumang bisikleta, 6-speed na Giant Acapulco MTB. 20 years old na sya so bakal pa yung frame.

the way na nakikita ko sa internet ang pictures eh luma pa yata ang size ng tubes nito. which means yung headtube niya is designed for 1" steerer tube forks. medyo mahirap maghanap niyan ngayon. not to mention threaded headset pa siya.

if you mean na kayang i-convert, pwede mong palitan ang handlebar para maging dropbars. medyo maghahanap ka nga lang ng kasya sa quill stem na kasama.

next is the wheelset. kung ico-convert mo to 700C, meron bang brake mounts para sa cantilever brakes na pang road? kung meron, aabot ba sa wheelsize? kung wala...you're pretty much stuck with the u-brakes or v-brakes your bike came with. which means...you can have narrow tires and rims but it's still on the 26" diameter.

as for the drivetrain....pwede mo palitan lahat yan even with the latest tech. it's the frame, fork and brakes that you need to take a look at.

kung may close up pictures ka sana...mas madaling makita

kung may pyesa dun sa bike shop sa inyo, well and good. although if i will execute it...ire-restore ko na lang for a retro look. then buo or bili ako ng isa pa.

You can put city tires or MTB slicks to make it more road-oriented but you cannot "convert" a mountain bike into a road bike.

Since you didnt specify which Acapulco model you have, and there is a hybrid version of it with 700c tires, I'll assume that it is...

You still cant convert it into a road bike. The geometry of a hybrid is very upright which road bikes generally are not. You can put narrower tires and drop bars pero masagwa lang tignan and still wont function and perform as a road bike.

Then you will have to use road bike brakes and levers.

Honestly its not worth pagkagastusan. Magipon ka na lang kung road bike talaga gusto mo.

I had a Trek Hybrid before which what got me into biking. In 8 months binenta ko dahil hindi "performance" oriented. Too slow for a road bike and not designed as an off road bike. Rather than upgrade the bike, bumili na lang ako ng rigid na 29er single speed.

Thank you for the replies. I'm thinking of restoring it, well, sort of, I'll repaint the frame and fork. I'm okay with how it performs as it is and I'll just save up for another bike. Mas gusto ko talaga kasi ng hardtail na cross country eh.

Maraming Salamat.
