mirrorman: It depends on the frame. Not all sizes are the same. You have to consider the top tube length and the standover mainly. If it's an Anthem - their standover height is quite high - I think the frame would be on the tall side for a 5'6" guy. But then again maybe his legs are long for his height - it differs from person to person. A Specialized Stumpjumper for example ,has a very low standover height even on a large frame which is ideal for really rough trails. Personal fit is still the most important thing. Sizing is still a general guide. Every brand has it's own dimensions when they make their bikes.

thanks for that info regarding the top tube length. the frame is a Merida TFS 500 Matss Comp Series. At first kasi he wants to return the merchandise pero feel nya kahit 5'6" sya he is comfortable with it. concern ko lang is the riding feel baka in the long run may back problems na lumabas or any defects kasi malaki frame nya.

Sir, I have a 17" frame and I'm also 5'6". I'd have back & wrist pains after long rides (no trails yet though). To fix my prob, I've purchased a zero setback seatpost, shorter stem & 40mm rise handlebar. I also updgraded to a 100mm fork & added a few mm on spacers.
Ride has improved a lot, but I still get numb on the wrists after rides. What else do u think I should do? ![]()
