This morning, I woke up to one of those rare days when there is no visible smog hovering over Metro Manila... Visibility from my bedroom the full 270% from Antipolo to Corregidor to Bataan to Quezon City...

Took out the DSLR after months of neglect... Threw the resulting image into my Lightroom preset...

This is the Manila skyline with Manila Bay and Bataan in the far background...

If we can convince more people to pedal than burn gasoline, maybe we'll have more days like this...

we need more bike commuters in the metro, that's for sure.

if more (basic) commuter bikes will be sponsored for free by our government in MM, maybe a lot of people will get out and ride, from running basic errands to bike to work. about 70-80% of bikers are only hobbyists, not bike commuters. also, any biking advocacy has to be partnered with converting our public transpo---more trains and bikes, and only eco-friendly fuels.

i bike commute everyday and here are just some comments i receive:
"Ayus ah, exercise yan!"
"Galing naman, healthy yan!"
"Pare, tama yan, laking tipid sa pamasahe."
"A good alternative than hitting the gym."
"Congrats,iwas traffic."

while in my heart is a greater cause---to help saving healthier air that my daughter will breathe in the future.

i suggest another shot early in the morning when the sun reaches about 10 - 20 degrees in the horizon. take a picture of the clouds. i've seen this in both MOA and Maarat, there will be a gray and white line of clouds.

scary to think that the gray cloud is below the line...which is what we're all breathing.

Wonderful! I am in treatment for 8 years now & yet I kept on driving that combustible contraption. Not anymore. I finally gave up the keys and picked up my bike for a healthier tomorrow.

Ugggh... ang kapal ng usok, kahit si superman hindi kakayanin yan...... sana naman wala sa atin ang nagdagdag sa usok na yan nung bagong taon. If we bike for clean air, why do some of us still pollute the air with fireworks? If we bike for our health (often with all kinds of safety gear), why do some of us play with dangerous firecrackers right after the ride?

Let us support the DOH/DENR move for a ban on all fireworks starting 2012 and encourage all our friends to do the same. Sana huwag ng madagdagan ng smog sa Chinese new year. So we can always get out and ride. At mag-ingat sa ulan, baka acid rain na 'yan...

nice shot sir. grabe na talga polusyon. kaya pag naulan lalo na pag mahina lang, malagkit sa pakiramdam, unlike dati.

sana nga talaga mas maraming mag bike to work nalang. sarap siguro makita na everyday instead of cars ang kasabay mo, bike commuters nalang. I started biking to work a few months ago, at ang laking tipid talaga kaso sana talaga may bike lanes na everywhere.

Sana may isang henyo na makaimbento ng "jammer" para sa mga oto. I-activate nya once a week para di mag-start mga kotse at mapilitan silang maglakad o kaya magbisikleta na lang.
