a picture would help sir. Maybe you are confused between the 6 bolt and centerlock hubs?

nagmumukha ring malaki tignan ang 6-bolt hub as compare to centerlock deore hub... at malaki ang "side wall" (churi, nde ko lam term) ng pang 36 sa 32 holes...

ehehehe

mga bros, may sticky ba tayo for hubs? mga details sana. yung length ba nya magkakaiba?

sit. 1: i have a generic hub from a built bike from the malls, then i have a vision pursuit frame. i want to put the old hub to the new frame pero feeling ka malaki yung buka ng vision frame para sa luma kong hubs.

sit. 2: if ever bibili ako ng new hubs, gusto ko sana pwede pang DB. Can i still use v-brakes for that? kasi hindi pa naman ako magkakabit ng DB eh (installment basis and pag-upgrade, hahaha).

kung ung hub na tinutukoy mo ay ung standard na generic hub (not db ready), malaki nga ang clearance ng karamihan dun, especially kung nde QR...

@junpakaplog

Big hubs? Small hubs?

Do you mean tall-flange and small-flange? If so, read on:

Kasi, depending on which one, the hub does look bigger or smaller kahit same model lang. Sa Deore, older ISO 6-bolt hubs look big because of their tall flange. The flanges were made tall so that the spoke holes will lie in a circle farther out from the hub center than the rotor bolt holes.

Pag Center Lock, mas maliit tingnan kasi low flange lang sya- not as massive looking and I think probably lighter. Pero pareho lang Deore yan.

Using the same rim, tall-flange hubs generally require shorter spokes than low-flange ones. Being short, they say you can build stiffer wheels because the spokes don't flex as much. Maybe those who have this wheel setup can verify if this is true.

hmm or maybe he's referring to the Japan Deore M555 which really looks bigger than M535 or the newer M595?

Ah yes, the Deore M555! How can I forget that? I should know, I still have a wheelset with those hubs and I recently sold a pair din dito sa Buy & Sell natin. Yes, Japan pa yung series na yun, the last in the Deore line, I think.

But contrary to what you said, the M555s would have to be the SMALLEST-looking hub among the three you mentioned above. Why? Because unlike the M535 & M595, it does not have conventional upright flanges. Instead, it has slots in the hub body where you insert the spoke heads. Its called "Unidirectional Spoke Lacing System".

Mod's Note:

Please stick to the topic, discussion is regarding Deore hubs info. TY

There's an existing thread regarding 6 bolts and centerlock, please continue there if you want info about it.
